چکیده
We present time series photometry for six partial transits of GJ 436b obtained with the Fine Guidance Sensor instrument on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Our analysis of these data yields independent estimates of the host star's radius R ⋆ = 0.505

The Transiting Exoplanet Host Star Gj 436: a Test of Stellar Evolution Models in the Lower Main Sequence, and Revised Planetary Parameters
Knowledge of the stellar parameters for the parent stars of transiting exoplanets is pre-requisite for establishing the planet properties themselves, and often relies on stellar evolution models. GJ 436, which is orbited by a transiting Neptune-mass object, presents a difficult case because it is an M dwarf. Stellar models in this mass regime are not as reliable as for higher mass stars, and te...
متن کاملTransit infrared spectroscopy of the hot Neptune around GJ 436 with the Hubble Space Telescope★
The nearby transiting system GJ 436b offers a unique opportunity to probe the structure and atmosphere of an extra-solar “hot Neptune”. In this Letter, we present the main results of observations covering two transit events with the NICMOS camera on the Hubble Space Telescope. The data consist in high-cadence time series of grism spectra covering the 1.1-1.9 μm spectral range. We find Rpl = 4.0...

We report the results of infrared (8μm) transit and secondary eclipse photometry of the hot Neptune exoplanet, GJ 436b using Spitzer. The nearly photon-limited precision of these data allow us to measure an improved radius for the planet, and to detect the secondary eclipse. The transit (centered at HJD = 2454280.78149± 0.00016) shows the flat-bottomed shape typical of infrared transits, and it...
متن کاملSe p 20 09 A Search for Additional Planets in the NASA EPOXI Observations of the Exoplanet System GJ 436
We present time series photometry of the M dwarf transiting exoplanet system GJ 436 obtained with the the EPOCh (Extrasolar Planet Observation and Characterization) component of the NASA EPOXI mission. We conduct a search of the highprecision time series for additional planets around GJ 436, which could be revealed either directly through their photometric transits, or indirectly through the va...
